Last night was the first time I had to seriously sit down and think of what my characters' boggarts are at WAH. Jules and Geoff were easy, once I put my mind to it: Jules is terrified of Amycus Carrow, with the leering and "MAKE IT SEXIER" kinds of comments at musical rehearsals, as well as everything he's been making them do in Dark Arts and what he does when they don't do it. Like Meg, I was kind of surprised that Zoe was the first one in comments to have a Carrow as a boggart, because they both make a sort of sense to be boggart-ish, the way the school year's going. Geoff, the protector, of course his boggart comes from his deep fear of his younger siblings being hurt. At this point, he really doesn't care if he loses his prefect badge or not, the only thing that's actually keeping him from outrightly fighting the Carrows is that he would never be able to live with himself if something happened to Chris or Sadie because of something he did or didn't do. So it's only natural that his boggart would take the form of his younger siblings being tortured and bruised and bloody and hurt.

But Terry, ... for him I had to actually sit for quite a while and really think. What's his biggest, deepest fear? What would a boggart draw upon to attack him? No doubt, he's afraid of his friends being hurt because of him, of the Carrows using Parvati to keep him in line. Of his brothers being hurt. Of Thalia and his parents being attacked, since they're all out there in the Real World where people are actually dying. These are all valid, war-related fears.

But then I pulled up his bio, to see if I could find something in there that would be more powerful than any of those. And I realized that his greatest fear, his boggart, was something that really should have been readily obvious to me, because it could easily be my boggart, too. (You know, if the boggart didn't decide to go for the obvious and take advantage of either my fear of heights or my fear of sharks.)

Which, I guess, answers that meme about "how are your characters like you" with regards to Terry.

Ahahaha, Jules is kinda freaking out right now. And by kinda, I mean A LOT.

See, this week in Dark Arts, the fourth and fifth years are supposed to be trying the imperius for the first time, though Prof Carrow is at least being nice enough to make them try it on animals instead of their friends.

But Jules, ickle little Jules who wants nothing more than to continue flying under the radar and follow the rules and basically just survive this school year, just couldn't do it this afternoon. She couldn't even try. Which means that she has detention tonight. She has never had detention. Her only experience with detention has been seeing others around her get detentions, which have been growing more and more horrific all year. She's terrified of what they're going to have to do. I know what the detention is going to be, of course, but Jules doesn't, so her imagination is running wild, and it is definitely not anything good. The reality is going to suck, of course, and she's going to be well-terrified into at least attempting the imperius in class tomorrow. She won't succeed, but she'd do anything to avoid a repeat of tonight.

Yeah, she's been terrified of getting detention all year. THIS IS NOT GOING TO HELP. (Though I find it absolutely adorable that as much as she's freaking out over the unknown of tonight's detention ... she's freaking out equally about the possibility of being kicked out of the musical because of being put in detention.)

Also, Jules is totally me at 14. xD I went to a normal high school where we weren't shackled in the dungeon for not forcing an animal to bend to our will, and there definitely wasn't a war raging both inside and outside the school, but I was still absolutely convinced as a freshman that DETENTION IS THE WORST THING IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD AND BEING IN IT ONCE WILL COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY RUIN MY LIFE OH MY GOD.

I AM NEVER GOING TO STOP LAUGHING. SRSLY, THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER AT WAH. xD Genderswap ftw.

Jules is FREAKING OUT over being a boy, and I'm sorry, but her comments on really needing to use the loo but not wanting to touch "it" just made me giggle furiously. When she finally did use the loo, she squeezed her eyes shut tight and didn't look because she's never seen a penis before and she didn't want the first one she sees to be her own. xD (Though I realized that I had the day completely wrong, so she had completely different classes today than she said she did to Jill. I BLAME SLEEPY!BRAIN. >> At least she doesn't have to deal with being imperioed on top of being a boy?)

Geoff is jealous that Drew has bigger boobs than he does, and right now he hates Sarah for the comment on it being related to what size he is as a guy. (Okay, not hate, but very great -.- and is flaily.) BUT other than mild body crisis, he's enjoying it. And he definitely explored. >> Cough. JOY! Did Vicky change into a boy? xD What does she think about Geoff right now?

And Terry is just having the TIME OF HIS LIFE. He explored, too (c'mon, he's a boy, and right now he looks like this ... of course he's going to poke around), and he let Vati make him over. And then snogged Vati a bit, too. xD And, really, they know it's going to wear off, so he figures why not make the best of it? He wants to do some Dumbledore's Army graffiti around the school, too, since he doesn't look like himself and is therefore more or less in ~disguise~ xD

OH MAN SO FUN. XD I just wish I had Isla in already, she would totally love having a penis. xD Make up for Jules freaking out over having one.

I really really don't know which is more hilarious: the people who are having fun with the genderswap, or the people who are freaking out over it.

Who should be Terry's PB?

Truth: I have never been so glad to no longer be 14 as I am right now. Poor Jules. She's afraid that NO BOY EVER is going to want to kiss her. EVER. And when you're 14, that's just about equivalent to the end of the world.

At least she has the play to keep herself happy. She can focus on that and on being awesome in it and on not flubbing her lines or missing a cue. (And, you know, that also keeps her from dwelling & worrying about what's going on around the school like the Carrows being evil and students hurting each other and stuff.)

So, yesterday at DMR, Sirius infested the school with billywigs, which resulted in the vast majority of the students and even quite a few of the staff getting high.

I missed out on a big bulk of it because I was out with my guy, but when I came back, I just dove right in. I decided that all three of my students got stung a few times each.

Right now, everyone's being-high-and-loopy posts are amusing as all hell, and writing for my high little kiddos is cracking me up. But I'm really looking forward to the posts once everyone starts coming back to their senses. Especially the Slytherins, and ESPECIALLY "Trixie" Black.

My two girls are going to be ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY EMBARRASSED. Like, seriously, they won't be happy campers. Mary might go back to hiding out, and Vee will be apologising to Barnabus for ... the entire rest of her life. And hoping that he doesn't think that all her professions of ~feelings~ for him and the fact that she asked him to the ball were only because she was high, because they WERE real, she just, y'know, announced them a bit more publicly and happily than she might've otherwise. Will ... is just going to roll with the punches and be all "yeah, so I snogged Esme on the ceiling, so what? IT WAS A GOOD SNOG!" (and then find his way back to that painting and apologize to whoever's actually in it for calling him Santa Claus and assaulting his painted ears with his [will's] attempts at singing) And if Rin actually made him the cat ears, tail, and whiskers she said she would, he'd totally wear them, too.

It's kinda nice to have a weekend of laughing and silliness after so much DRAMA and ANGST.



ALSO. I'm nearly done with Geoffrey Hooper for Wait and Hope. I just have to finish up his history and write up a sample journal entry for him. And, of course, thanks to CERTAIN PEOPLE (*cough*ANDREA*cough*), he's now thinking about whinging about having to drop herbology instead of CoMC. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, DUDE.

Oh, I just love it when a character just starts arguing with you in your head. Or, well, I was arguing. He was just being annoying.

See, I'm applying for Geoffrey Hooper over at wah_mods. He's a sixth year Gryff, and the only canon he has is that he tried out for the Gryff quidditch team (Keeper) in the trio's 5th year and even though he flew better than Ron, Angie said he was a whiner. Which gives me a lot of freedom to play with.

So today, I'm working on his app, and this conversation ensued:

idk about the rest of you, but I've always felt that, especially in war-era games, Hogwarts might do well to have a counselor/psychiatrist on staff, to help the kids deal with all the shit that's going on around them. Enter Dr Theodore Orsini, my latest character at DMR and the newest member of the staff. But of course, his biggest challenge right now is in getting the kids to actually come and talk to him. The only reason Mary's going is because she made a deal with Chase (her BFF, who wasn't upholding his end of the deal until she refused to go again unless he went and could prove that he'd gone) that if she goes to talk to him, Chase will as well.

So, in attempting to log with myself a counseling session between Theodore and Mary (which is harder than it sounds because you have to switch back and forth between two vastly different headspaces and Mary can't just AUTOMATICALLY agree with everything Theodore says because, duh, that's not how it works even though Theodore is being v. logical with his logic and sense-making ... plus, I can't use my own headspace knowledge about what's really going on with Mary and have Theodore ~magically~ know what's going on in there, he has to come to his own conclusions, so I have to stop and think about what Mary's actually revealing in the things she says and does and where Theodore can go from there; seriously, the log took place a week ago, and I'm still not done, and I DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR ANYONE TO TAG, BECAUSE I AM TAGGING MYSELF), I got to thinking about which of my characters might need to sit down and spend some quality time with a psychiatrist. And then I started to get a bit depressed as to how many of my current and past characters could use with a visit to the shrink.

Which, naturally, leads to a teal deer being born. I'm going to limit this to my current characters, or I could go on forever. I'm hitting all of my current characters, even though they could, for the most part, continue on without actually seeing a shrink. This evolved kind of more into my characters' neuroses and psychologies than strictly "why they need to see a shrink."
