Where did you hear about us? Never Gonna Tell a Lie and Hurt You
IC Information
Name: Cassandra Jane Dorny (née Wood)
Age & Birthdate: 30; 12 September, 1977
Bloodline: Halfblood
Sexuality: Jack-sexual
Marital Status: Happily married, and that marriage has been very well consumated. Many times.
Former House & School: Ravenclaw, 1989 - 1996 (Hogwarts)

Occupation: Stay-at-home mum
How are they qualified? She has four children. By this point, she's qualified to do everything from stay at home to care for them, to disarming nuclear bombs and negotiating peace throughout the world.
How did they get involved in the school? Her three school-age children attend the school, and she all but forced her brother to apply there.
If a professor, what is their demeanor as a professor? n/a!

Personality: Cassandra is a very naturally curious girl. She hates when people leave off the second half of that old saying: "curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back." She likes figuring out how things work. She's also very stubborn, and when she sets her mind on something, she's like a dog with a bone: she won't let up. This especially comes out with her family: she knows what's best for them, and she'll do whatever it takes to make them listen to her and do what she knows is right and best. Meddlesome? Yes. But does it work? Usually, yes.

She is, of course, her mother's daughter: while she doesn't have quite the dramatic streak that her mom does, Cassandra can be quite dramatic, if it suits her. She's actually usually quite grounded, but she won't hesitate to use that bit of dramatic flair to get her way. What can she say? She's the baby, she's genetically predisposed to throwing fits to get her way.

Cassandra is also crazily superstitious. She doesn't like Friday the 13th. She hates black cats. If anyone says anything remotely jinx-worthy, she has to knock on the nearest piece of wood. She regularly wears a necklace with charms of a rabbit's foot, a four-leaf clover, and a horseshoe. There are plenty of other superstitions that she believes in, and it doesn't matter that other people might think they're silly: she holds tight to them. She nearly had a heart attack when her first son was almost born on the 13th (because his birthday would end up landing on a Friday every few years), and she was greatly relieved when he was born on the 14th instead.

  • Aglaia Regan Wood (née Belby): Mother; Actress; b. 4 August, 1956 (Ravenclaw 1967 - 1974)
  • Oliver Patrick Wood: Brother; Flying Professor @ Remus Lupin Academy; b. 1 July, 1976 (Gryffindor, 1987 - 1994)

For Patrick Wood and Regan Belby, it was love at first Quidditch game. Fifth-year Regan was commentating the match between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, and sixth-year Patrick was a Gryffindor Beater who fell for her the second he heard a snide remark. Regan put up a good game of hard-to-get, but Patrick won her over in the end. They continued to date throughout the rest of Patrick's years at Hogwarts and in the year that he was out of school and she was still attending. Once Regan finished school, however, they were married. Son Oliver was born in the summer of 1976, followed by daughter Cassandra just over a year later in the fall of 1977.

From the start, Cassandra was incredibly close to her big brother. Her first word, in fact, was "bru" (an attempt at "brother," which was just too long for her to manage). They fought, of course -- it was their job as brother and sister to fight -- but Oliver always was and always will be Cassandra's best friend. She also learned quick that she could get him to do anything for her, which she still makes use of to this day.

Although Oliver took to Quidditch like a fish to water -- much to the delight of their parents -- Cassandra ... didn't. She was, quite frankly, a disaster with both feet on the ground; get her on a broom and it was flat-out dangerous for anybody in the area. Of course, with a family like hers, she grew up with a deep and true love for the sport, she just couldn't play it herself. She actually took a bit after her mum, though she didn't have quite the dramatic streak that Regan did. She did, however, have her mother's thirst for knowledge, particularly random trivia and things like that. She absolutely loved taking things apart and putting them back together: muggle things, wizarding things, any thing that could be taken apart and played with.

When Oliver went off to Hogwarts in 1987, Cassandra was upset: equal parts because her brother was gone, and because she wanted to go to Hogwarts, too. But she had to wait until 1989 to join him. It came as no surprise to anyone in the family that she was sorted immediately into Ravenclaw (though a part of her had wished for Gryffindor, like her brother). She fit in at Ravenclaw right away, though she earned a bit of glaring from her housemates when she cheered for her brother during the Gryffindor / Ravenclaw Quidditch match.

There weren't any classes that Cassandra particularly excelled in at Hogwarts. She studied, sure, and did her work, but she wasn't obsessive about earning perfect marks or anything. Unlike Oliver, who knew that he wanted to play Quidditch, she never really knew exactly what she wanted to do after school. She wanted to do something where she could work with her hands, maybe keep taking things apart and putting them back together. But then she met Jack Dorny and fell in love.

She and Jack met in their sixth year. Coincidentally, it was because of the Triwizard Tournament: Cassandra was putting her name in (she had just turned seventeen and, as such, was eligible), while Jack wasn't quite seventeen yet, so he couldn't. They were both in the group that cheered as Cedric (Jack's roommate) put his name in the goblet, and the group that watched as the Weasley twins tried to fool the age line. It was after the announcement of the four champions, though, that Cassandra and Jack really got to talking. They were both upset over Harry Potter's name coming out of the goblet, and both found it to be unfair to Cedric. Oh, sure, Cassandra was well-familiar with Harry Potter: the boy who lived, the golden boy of the Gryffindor Quidditch team; her brother talked about the team enough, but he waas just a kid.

Cassandra and Jack started dating that year, and they were both utterly shocked by Cedric's death. Neither of them was particularly willing to believe that Voldemort was back, but they also couldn't deny that something had happened that night. During their seventh year, they were inseparable. Jack proposed to her at the end of exams, and they were married that December. Any questions about a "reason" for the rushed wedding were answered when it was revealed that, no, Cassandra was not pregnant. Their first child, son Jack, Jr., wasn't born until the summer of 1998, shortly after the end of the war. Once they started, though ... they didn't stop. Jack, Jr., was followed by Gwendolyn in 2000, Michael in 2003, and finally Ian in 2007.

Out of Hogwarts, Jack got a job at the Daily Prophet, and over the years he's worked his way up to being a reporter. Cassandra toyed with the idea of opening up her own repair shop, but once Jack, Jr., was born, she devoted her time to taking care of her darling little babies. She didn't mind being a stay-at-home mum: she loved taking care of the kids, and naptimes were just golden (especially those rare moments, when Jack, Gwen, and Michael were all still really young, that she managed to synchonize their naptimes, even if only for a short period). She also feels that having four children is definitely enough, so once Ian is in school, maybe she can pursue opening a repair shop or something.

Of course, through everything, Cassandra was still close to Oliver. She followed his career closely, and cheered rabidly for Puddlemere United (still does!). She was more horrified and upset than anyone else (except, obviously, Oliver) by his attack in 2006. What made it worse for Cassandra was that once he was released from the hospital, Oliver wouldn't let anyone see him, not even her. It took her until June to finangle her way into his flat, and once she did, she was prepared. She told him that he wasn't going to change anything by sitting around doing nothing, and she brandished paperwork at him. Information about the Remus Lupin Academy, which had a space open for a flying instructor. Jack, Jr., and Gwendolyn were already attending the school, and she knew that working there would be good for her brother. She refused to take no for an answer.

Blurb: The younger sister of Oliver Wood, Cassandra is happily married with a brood of kids of her own, but that doesn't stop her from trying to meddle in her brother's life. Her three school-age children attend the Remus Lupin Academy, and she's wrestling with the decision about whether her oldest should continue at the RLA next year, or move to Hogwarts.
