Activity/Schedule: I anticipate being active. I'm in the middle of a summer school course, but it's only two evenings a week and it will be done by the middle of June. Other than that, I am currently only a member of two other games, both of which are fairly low-key in terms of activity requirements.

What is the answer to Rule of Thumb? If we're not sure about anything, send a message to the mods and ask.

What plots would you like to explore in this game? Or are there any plots you would like to introduce into the game? Well, I know this isn't a game focused on the war, but given how little we know about Alice's family and the fact that Neville ends up living with Frank's mum after Frank and Alice are tortured into insanity (D:), I've usually assumed that Alice's family was out of the picture for whatever reason. In the past, I've had it planned out that what really jump-started Alice into Auror-dom (as opposed to a Healer, which was her other top career idea) would be the death of her family, particularly her baby brothers. Again, I fully understand that this game isn't a war game, so if you don't want plots like this (and it wouldn't even have to be now, it could be near the end of her seventh year or something), then I'm totally fine with that. Maybe after their daughter was tortured into insanity, the Robinsons fled England with their little boys, or maybe Frank and Alice willed the care of Neville to Gran, since Alice's parents have her little brothers to take care of and limited financial means.

But, basically, that is where I have gone with my Alice before, the deaths of her family. Again, if this is not the kind of plot that you want in this game, I'm totally fine with that and would be more than happy to put it away in the cupboard for a more serious, war-oriented game at another time. As it is, Alice is already considering either being a Healer or being an Auror, so maybe even with just a bit of nudging from Frank or from professors or friends she could choose Auror over Healer even without her family dying. :)

CHARACTER INFORMATION

Identity
Full Name: Alice Marie Robinson
Date of Birth/Age: 8 July, 1959; 16

[ source: wand core | wand wood ]
House: Gryffindor
Bloodline: Pureblood
School Activities: Prefect

Appearance
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 118 lbs
Eyes/Hair/Facial Features: Brown eyes; brown shoulder-length hair; round face; fair skin; big, open smile.

Style/Composure: Alice's normal choice of clothing is jeans and "girly" tops and she's fond of layering necklaces and wearing multiple bangles on each wrist. She used to have a watch, but she lost it, so she's not always necessarily on time. Alice prefers to wear her hair loose whenever possible, but sometimes pulls it back into a loose ponytail or bun to get it off her neck and back from her face. Her posture isn't perfect, but it's fairly decent, and she carries herself like the confident, happy girl that she is. The big smile on her face and sparkle in her eyes are ever-present, for she is a cheerful, rather easy-going girl.

PB: Olivia Thirlby ; icons +(I know I'd asked about Rachel McAdams, but after some searching, I've discovered that Olivia looks remarkably like a younger Rachel, so my Alice muse would be happy with her)

Personality
(A minimum of one paragraph for each portion is required. The longer the answer, the better your application will be received.)
Strengths: With regards to academics, Alice's main strengths are in Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, though she is skilled enough in Transfiguration, Herbology, and Potions to have pulled through those classes with high O.W.L. scores. Outside of academics, one of Alice's greatest strengths is her incredible optimism and cheerfulness. Nothing can get her down for long, and she can inevitably find the upside of any bad situation, the silver lining of any dark cloud.

She is also steadfastly loyal. If you have a friend in Alice, you have a friend for life. She will be there for her friends, through thick and thin, come hell or high water. If you are her friend, she will stand up for you until the end of time. It takes a great deal of work to lose her as a friend once you have her, and you have to really be trying to do so. Alice is also very loyal to her house, she would cheer for the Gryffindor Quidditch team until her throat was raw, and she does not take well to people speaking poorly of her house; in fact, she's quick to defend her house to any nay-sayers.

Another strength of Alice's is her strong sense of responsibility. In the past year, some of it has come from having baby brothers around the house, since Alice has been helping her mother take care of the twins whenever she's home, but she was already becoming responsible even before her brothers were born. Part of it also stems from being a prefect, a title that she takes quite seriously. She likes being seen as responsible and mature, it makes her feel more like an adult instead of a little kid. But rest assured: if you ask Alice to do something (and it's reasonably within her means to do it) or she promises you something, she will do it to the best of her ability.

Weaknesses: Again with regards to academics, Alice is a bit weak on the theory part of academia. If she can get her hands on something, she shines, but hours of lecture or poring through books to write essays is hard for her. She really learns best through hands-on experience, so classes such as History of Magic were a real struggling point for her (so much, in fact, that she unfortunately only managed to scrape together a P on her History of Magic O.W.L.).

Outside of academics, another weakness of Alice's is her trusting, open-hearted nature. Because it is so easy to earn her trust and so hard to lose it, she sometimes ends up trusting the wrong people, the kinds who can then exploit her trust for their own gain. She also tends to put others before herself and finds it hard to say no, which then leads to her being something of a doormat at times. Of course, she wouldn't consider this to be a weakness, because she's just being nice and helping out a friend.

At times, her desire to be helpful can come across as meddling, because she will sometimes try to help (read: butt in) when not specifically asked. She only means it out of the kindness and goodness of her heart, but she just doesn't realise that her unaskedfor help can come across as annoying and unwanted.

Overall Psyche: Overall, Alice is a cheerful, sweet, charming girl with an amazingly big optimistic side and practically no bad side to speak of. She is the kind of squeaky-clean girl that all parents want to have, the polite and chivalrous girl who always has a ready ear to talk to and shoulder to cry on. She sees the shiny happy side of life, the upside to every down, the silver lining to every dark cloud. The glass is perpetually half-full, if not completely full. She is so sweet that you could almost get cavities from being around her for too long (okay, that's a bit of an overexaggeration). Alice is sentimental to a fault and a hopeless, incurable romantic.

Her dreams primarily center around being useful and helpful. She loves her mom, but she wants to be more than what she is, more than just a housewife. Alice does want to be a mother, yes, but she wants to have a job, as well, preferably one where she can help people. Healer tops her list of potential careers, with Auror coming in a very close second.

Alice has a tendency to chew on her lower lip and toy with her hair when she's thinking, so she usually pulls her hair up into a ponytail or bun when she's working on homework, just so that she doesn't try to toy too much with her hair. Even still, she tends to get ink smudged on her fingertips, then transferred to her hair or her ear (from tucking stray hair behind her ear, that is) in the course of writing essays.

Likes: Cats, flowers (particularly daisies and sunflowers), strawberries, chocolate, mint-flavoured ice cream, peppermint toads, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, Honeydukes Fudge, hot tea with honey, dancing, children, watching the rain (preferably from inside where it's cozy, warm, and dry).

Dislikes: Pumpkin (in food or beverage), overly spicy foods, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (there's too many of the gross flavours and not enough of the good ones), people who intentionally harm others, mice, coffee.

Family
Parents: Henry Michael Robinson (Gryffindor, 1946-1953; Department of Magical Games and Sports) and Rebecca Elizabeth Robinson (neé Wright; Hufflepuff, 1946-1953; housewife)
Siblings: Henry Michael Robinson Jr. and David Joseph Robinson (twin brothers; b. 23 June, 1974)

Home life/Family relations: The Robinson household is one that is full of love. Alice grew up as an only child, the apple of her parents' eyes, doted upon and loved. Her parents tried to provide her with everything that she could want, though sometimes they just had to say no in order to stay within their financial needs (a five-year-old Alice could hardly have taken care of her own pony anyway). Henry is the head of the household, his word is final. Rebecca is a happy, bustling housewife, happy to do the cooking and the cleaning, and tending to her little garden in the backyard during her free time (of which she has very little at the moment, with two littles ones around the house). Dinner is always promptly at six and has been for as long as Alice can remember.

Alice is very much a Daddy's Girl. She looks up to her father; he's the big, strong daddy who used to let her ride on his shoulders when she was small, and who would scare away the monsters under the bed. She loves her mother, too, of course, but it will always be Daddy first. Alice also loves her little brothers. Because she was already so much older when they were born, she's not jealous of the attention they get; instead, she loves that her parents trust her with more responsibility, and she loves playing with them when she's home. She cannot wait until they are old enough to start Hogwarts, even though she'll be long done before then; she's already ready to tell them everything about the school and the best places to go on Hogsmeade weekends.

Character History: Alice was born on 8 July, 1959, to Henry and Rebecca Robinson in a small hospital in Lancashire, a small county in northwestern England. Her parents had attended Hogwarts together, Henry in Gryffindor and Marie in Hufflepuff. They say that Alice got her brave Gryffindor streak from her father and her sweet, loyal nature from her mother. It came as no surprise to the Robinson family that Alice received her Hogwarts letter shortly after her eleventh birthday in the summer of 1970, nor that she was sorted into Gryffindor, although her mother admitted to a bit of disappointment that Alice was not sorted into Hufflepuff. A romantic at heart, Alice grew up loving to hear the fairy tales that her mother so loved to tell her, all the Once Upon a Times, Prince Charmings, and Happily Ever Afters. Having inherited her mother's sweet nature, Alice tried to befriend people in every house during her first year. At the very least, she was friendly to everyone. Her best friends, however, were mostly those who were with her in Gryffindor.

Although Alice had grown up an only child, her parents had always wanted a large family, though they didn't necessarily have the financial stability to support too many children; Henry worked for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Games and Sports, and he earned enough to have a comfortable life for his wife and daughter, though they were by no means well-off. Even though Alice showed no real aptitude for sports, Henry did manage to instill in her a great appreciation for Quidditch.

In 1973, Henry and Marie were thrilled to inform their daughter that she would be an older sister. Their second and third children, twin boys that they named Henry Jr. and David, were born on 23 June, 1974. Alice was thrilled to be home from school by then, so that she could be there for the birth. She adores her younger brothers, and spent much of the summer holiday in 1974 helping her mother to care for the infants.

With regards to school, Alice rather enjoys Hogwarts. She loves her classes and her classmates, and a part of her likes the bit of independence that she has, being so far away from Mum and Dad. Being made Prefect in her fifth year was just the cherry on top of the sundae for her, and she loved that the faculty of Hogwarts felt that she was mature enough for such a responsibility.

At the present time, Alice does not know what she wants to do with her life, just that she wants to do something noble, she wants to help save the world. Her top two choices are either Healer or Auror, though she still has plenty of time to make up her mind. In the meantime, however, she is taking all of the classes that she would need for either career, just in case (luckily, the two career paths have overlapping N.E.W.T. requirements).

WRITING SAMPLES

(I cannot stress enough how important this part is to the overall application. No, I cannot accept old entries from old games or anything copy/pasted from old applications. I would appreciate a new, fresh sample of your writing style IN the character you are applying for. Because I want fresh samples, I will not put a requirement on length. But know this: the longer the sample, the better I can get a feel for your grasp of the character in question. Show me what you’ve got!)

First Person Journal Entry: Go go Gryffindor! Good luck in the match today, I know you'll all be spectacular!

I can't believe it's already November. The year seems to be speeding by. Before we know it, it'll be December and time for the hols. I'm admittedly looking forward to going home and seeing my brothers. Speaking of the little guys, Mum sent an owl with new pictures of them, and they're absolutely adorable. She also sent me a tin of homemade biscuits, and there's definitely far more than I could ever eat myself, so if anybody would like some, I'd be happy to share. They're all chocolate chip, and they're totally great. Sometimes I wonder if my mum's trying to fatten me up or something.

Third Person Narrative: [ player's note: obviously the bit about Frank would be tweaked when there's a Frank in the game with whom I can discuss their relationship. I'm just kind of winging it and playing around with it since there currently isn't a Frank to play off of. ]

Alice was studying in the common room. This was hardly a novel sight, considering that the common room was one of her favourite places to study. However, those who knew Alice would see that she was quite stressed. Her brown hair was haphazardly pulled up into a lopsided bun, precariously held in place by a hair elastic and a spare quill. Her lower lip was firmly captured between her teeth, and her chin rested on her left hand. Her right hand held her quill over the parchment in front of her while her eyes were fixed on the book off to the side a bit. A drop of ink spilled from the tip of the quill onto the line of Alice's neat, precise handwriting that she had just finished writing in her essay.

Stifling a groan, Alice carefully set her quill aside, careful not to make more of a mess with it, and dropped her head into her hands. Defense Against the Dark Arts had never been a particularly difficult class for her, but this essay would surely be the death of her. Alice couldn't help but giggle at the thought of what her tombstone would read: "Here lies Alice Robinson, beloved daughter, loving sister, sweet friend, felled by a Defense essay in her sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Rest in peace." It was truly a sign of her stress if she was getting melodramatic about the whole thing. The upside of sixth year was that she could take fewer classes; in fact, she was only enrolled in five. The downside was that there was a lot more work in those five classes than she had ever had in her earlier classes, with the possible exception of the end of fifth year as she prepared to take the O.W.L.s.

Surely this meant that it was time for a break. She could hardly write her essay when she was so stressed about it. Sitting back in her chair, she pulled the elastic and quill out of her hair, running her fingers through it in an attempt to return it to some semblance of order while she looked around the common room to see what her housemates were up to. Okay, she was also looking around to make sure that nobody was trying to cause trouble, but of course that was part of her job, part of the responsibility that Professors Dumbledore and McGonagall had entrusted her with. She wanted to do them proud, which meant working to quell any brewing trouble within her house.

... okay, and maybe she was looking for Frank Longbottom, too. She couldn't help it, she had a crush on him. In fact, she'd had a crush on him since roughly fifth year. Unfortunately, despite how sweet and friendly Alice was, she couldn't flirt for the life of her, and besides, she'd heard murmurs that he was interested in someone else. Alice, of course, would never think to try to capture his affections away from whoever the other girl was.

Movement out of the corner of her eye caused her to turn and look to her right. Someone was heading her way, and since her earlier look around the room had shown that nobody was particularly close to her, they must be coming over to talk to her. Alice smiled and said hi. Even if she wasn't the reason that they were heading this way, it certainly didn't hurt anything to be polite and nice.
