BLOODLINE Pureblood
SEXUALITY Straight
CHARACTER JOURNAL [info]warm_hearted

APPEARANCE
HAIR COLOR Brown
EYE COLOR Brown
HEIGHT 5'0"
WEIGHT 113 lb
GENERAL DESCRIPTION Maggie is tiny. Despite both her parents being very tall, and despite her twin brother being obscenely tall, Maggie barely manages five-foot-nothing. She'll often tease Danny for stealing all the height in the womb. She compensates for her height by wearing heels a lot. She's as comfortable in heels as most people are in flats. Her brown hair is naturally wavy, though she'll sometimes wake up in the morning and decide to charm it straight for the day. Maggie has curves, too, and she's not shy about wearing clothes that show them off.
PLAYED BY Olesya Rulin

ACADEMICS
PREFECT/HEAD n/a; Maggie isn't exactly prefect material. Although she's a good kid, she just has a tendency to view the rules more as vague guidelines.
QUIDDITCH n/a; she doesn't play, but she cheers loudly and proudly for her twin. Even when Gryffindor's playing Hufflepuff.
WAND 9 in, willow, unicorn tail hair
BOGGART Clowns. Ugh. They are terrifying, with their laughter and their painted-on smiles and their big floppy shoes.
PATRONUS A laborador retriever
PET At school, she and Danny share an owl. Plus the family has a whole menagerie of pets (dogs and cats, mostly) back home.
COURSES Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms (section B), Defence Against the Dark Arts (section A), Herbology, Potions (section B), Transfiguration (section A), and Multicultural Relations
BEST SUBJECT Care of Magical Creatures (followed closely by Herbology)
WORST SUBJECT History of Magic

PERSONALITY
Maggie is pretty much the definitive sweetheart. She's one of the sweetest people in the world, and she genuinely cares about others. She doesn't hesitate to put other people's needs ahead of her own, though not quite to the point of being a doormat: she does know how to say no, and doesn't like being used by other people for their own gain. But if you legitimately need help, she'll be the first one there to help you. She's always offering to help tutor classmates in the classes she's good at, because what's the point of doing well in a subject if you don't help anyone else?

She's also very determined and very much a hard worker. If she sets her mind to something, then she'll do it. No ifs, ands, or buts, she'll do it or die trying. When she sets her mind to something, she's like a dog with a bone. All cliches aside, she does her best to do whatever she sets her mind to: be it befriending someone, doing well in classes, sit with her twin at mealtimes, anything and everything, if she decides she'll do it, she'll work her butt off to do it well. Sometimes she ends up wearing herself out with her constant hard work, but she believes the result is worth the temporary discomfort of the means to the end.

And, of course, Maggie wouldn't be a Hufflepuff if she wasn't filled to overflowing with loyalty. Loyalty to her family first and foremost, to her friends, to her house, to her schoolmates. If you're her friend, you have a friend for life: she'll forgive nearly any sin. She would do absolutely anything for her friends and family, most especially her twin, Danny. If her loyalties between friends and family ever came into conflict, her family would have to win out. Any sibling conflicts always end up with Maggie favouring Danny, too, because Maggie is most loyal to her former womb-mate than everyone else in the world. It's why she cheers for Gryffindor in all of their matches, even when they're playing against her own house. It's why she's occasionally gotten detentions for getting people to sneak her into the Gryffindor common room to hang out with him.

Maggie is also a very sensitive sort. She has a greater tendency than most to cry: she cried when the family's dog (Dog, a golden lab) died, she cried when she and Danny were sorted into different houses, she even cries at sappy movies. She has a tendency to get easily upset by things, too, and also falls in love very easily, and is easily heartbroken when the feelings aren't mutual, or when the relationship (if there was one) ends. She does get over these things soon enough, but her first reaction is usually to cry.

She's also very outdoorsy, which is sort of a requirement for being a Wood. She prefers to spend as much time outside as she can, choosing to study outdoors if the weather cooperates, as opposed to cooping up in the library or the Hufflepuff common room. If she could get away with living outside, she very well might. Her favourite memories are of camping trips with the family, and of sleeping outside in the backyard on warm summer nights.

Maggie absolutely loves animals of all kinds, big and small (though to her, the only real dog is a big one: if you can carry it around, it's not a real dog, it's a cat pretending to be a dog). She was always the one bringing stray animals home with the big eyes and the "mummy, da, can I keep it? Pleeeeeeease?" Care of Magical Creatures is her favourite class (and has added a whole new level of "mummy, da, I want a [blank] for a pet!" with animals that nobody really should have as pets). She definitely knows that she wants to work with animals, and with Danny wanting to be a Healer, it seems completely obvious to Maggie that she should become a magical vet.

HISTORY Sally-Anne Perks and Oliver Wood didn't expect their entire lives to change when they met. Oliver was a single father and a Quidditch star, while Sally was a photographer who was still emotionally recovering from a miscarriage. But when they met, it was like fireworks. Although it was hard for Sally to be around Oliver's young daughter Bailey at first (the little girl reminded her a lot of what she'd lost), she loved Oliver enough to try anyway. And it paid off: before long, Sally and Oliver were married. Oliver and Sally had both come from large families, so they both wanted a lot of children ... which was exactly what they got. First there were the twins, Daniel and Margaret, followed by Patrick, Cameron, and Allison. With Bailey, it made for a nice even half-dozen.

Growing up with so many siblings, Maggie is naturally very close to all her brothers and both of her sisters, but especially close to her twin, Danny. And, since their parents both came from large families, they had a number of cousins to play with growing up, as well, so there was never any shortage of playmates for the kids. They all spent plenty of time outside, and Maggie was as comfortable on a broom as she was on land. With Oliver's career as a Quidditch star, and Sally's blossoming photography studio, the Wood family lived comfortably, though not extravagantly, and Sally and Oliver both made sure the children didn't grow up spoiled. There was also no shortage of pets: Maggie single-handedly made sure of that, always bringing home strays and begging their parents to let her keep them. And she could ... so long as she helped take care of them.

It came as no surprise when the twins' Hogwarts owls arrived. Bailey was already a Hogwarts student, and of course both twins had been showing signs of magic for years (not to mention that they could fly their broomsticks!). What was the surprise came the evening of September first: Danny was up for the Sorting Hat first, and he was sorted into their Dad and Bailey's house of Gryffindor. Maggie hopped up onto the stool next, fully expecting to be sent to Gryffindor with her brother and sister. Her heart absolutely dropped into her feet and she actually burst into tears when the hat called out Hufflepuff. She had nothing against the house, of course -- it was her mother's house! -- and she grew to be a proud Hufflepuff, but it meant being separated from her twin.

Hufflepuff was a good fit for Maggie, and she fit in well amongst her fellow yellow-and-black-clad students. But she was horrible at hiding her intentions to be close to Danny, no matter what. She got very skilled at convincing other Gryffindors to let her into the common room to hang out with Danny, and she would let him into Hufflepuff, too. Over the years, they sought out the same classes so that they could spend more time together, too. But, of course, Maggie made plenty of her own friends in her house and in their year. It was just that Danny was her best friend, very literally her other half. Unlike Danny, though, she didn't go out for Quidditch. Although she was just as comfortable as her twin was on a broom, she was less interested in playing, and she was perfectly fine just sitting in the stands and cheering herself hoarse for her brother (yes, even when he was playing against Hufflepuff! For those matches, she usually sat with the Gryffindors to avoid the dirty looks from her housemates).

It was completely natural, however, for Maggie to add Care of Magical Creatures in her third year, considering her lifelong love of animals. The class only made her love of animals all the much greater (and introduced new and strange animals for Maggie to beg their parents for -- none of which she got). It was because of this that her head of house suggested, in her career advice meeting in fifth year, that she consider becoming a veterinarian. Maggie absolutely loved the idea, and now in her seventh year, it's exactly what she's aiming for.
