pimping time again!
I have some time to kill before people get here, but I don't want to get too involved in anything, so therefore, clearly this means it's time to Pimp My Games. Five dollah, games love you long time.
Six Degrees is a trio-era game set in 2006, compliant through DH but ignoring the epilogue. It is very much a social game, with no overarching plot to tie everything together. Rather, it focuses on the connections between people, the six degrees of separation. In fact, all characters need at least 2 - 3 connections with already-played characters when they join. The modly team of Carrah and Jeanne are awesome. The players are awesome, too, for that matter. And it's a very friendly atmosphere, where everyone is open to exploring new connections with new players and characters. It's really easy to come in not knowing people and still manage to fit in. My characters are Sally-Anne Perks, Alicia Spinnet, Lisa Turpin, Hugh Bradley, and Eloise Midgen. SALLY would absolutely love:
ALICIA would absolutely love:
... Gwenog Jones, the poor Captain of the Holyhead Harpies. She plays the position of Beater, and she needs to be around to beat her girls into shape. They've gone from being the league champs last season to currently languishing at eleventh, with a win percentage of a pitiful 33% (2 wins to 4 losses, ouch -- though they did play yesterday and the Quidditch info hasn't been updated, so that might have changed slightly). ... the rest of her Quidditch team, for that matter. The Keeper position is open, and the third Chaser spot (joining Alicia and Ginny Weasley-becoming-Potter-today) was recently "vacated" when Ella Montgomery was knocked down to reserves (so since there's been no talks of anyone being acquired to fill Ella's spot, the Chaser was most likely a girl on the reserve team who got a promotion). LISA would absolutely love:
... people willing to help nudge this poor little introvert out of her shell. Or people willing to set her off-kilter. HUGH would absolutely love:
... fans! Hugh is an attention-whore, so he would absolutely love to have more people in the game who recognize his Totally Amazing Voice and swoon over him. And I would like people who are like "you're on that show? What, was the circus not hiring?" or such. ... the canon Ravenclaws of 1997! We've got Marietta Edgecombe, but where are Eddie Carmichael and Cho Chang? Cho, the rest of your dorm is filled up (the other girls are Felicity Eastchurch, Hemani Patil, and Charlotte Spinks), and as for you, Eddie, Hugh and Marcus Belby are horribly outnumbered by the girls (not that Hugh minds being outnumbered by girls ...). ELOISE would absolutely love:
... more Hufflepuffs from the class of 1999! Although Eloise did not finish school with them, they still had four years together, and she spent the past three years reconnecting with those she lost contact with. So far, we have Eloise, Emil Higgs, Jill Sloper, and Sean Wood. ... coworkers! Eloise is a translator in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, and would love more translators around, or just anyone else who works in the DIMC (bonus connection to Jack Sloper, who also works in the Department). Or, really, just more fellow Ministry Drones she could connect with around the cafeteria or in the halls and such. ... I feel a little weird asking this, since two of my other four characters are currently in relationships that I never specifically pimped for, but Eloise is a single mum who was seriously burned by her daughter's father (they were engaged, and she came home from work early one day and found him on the sofa with her best friend; shortly thereafter, she discovered she was pregnant and moved back to England), and she just isn't looking for a relationship right now, because she just still doesn't really trust men. So I'd love if there was a guy who might show her that not all guys are lying, cheating scumbags. And some in-general characters wanted:
... Dean Thomas. The entire rest of your dorm has been filled up, one is engaged (Ron, to Hermione), and another is getting married today (Harry, to Ginny). Where are you? ... Andromeda Tonks. Your sister, brother-in-law, and nephew are all around, and your sister is interested in mending bridges. Are you? Also, although they are mostly a lot younger, there are other kids in game for your grandson Teddy to play with. (And if we can get Bill and/or Fleur picked up, Victoire should be around, too ...) ... anyone listed here! |
New Salem is a trio-era game set in 2010, compliant through DH but not the epilogue. The main setting of the game is the wizarding village of Dunmoody, founded in Ireland in 2000 and dedicated to the memory of the fallen heroes of the Second Wizarding War. It is primarily a social-game, but there's a mysterious over-arching background plot involving a threat to the wizarding world, which you can decide whether or not you want your characters to be a part of or not. If you want your character to just be social, then they can just be social. If you want them involved in the background plot, they can get involved. The mods (the awesome Matt, Andrea, and Kate) post a monthly plot calendar with prompts for things happening over the course of the month, from things going on around the village to world events (and, presumably, prompts related to the background plot once it gets going). The game only just opened at the beginning of the month, but the players are all enthusiastic about it. My characters are Terry Boot, Geoffrey Hooper, Juliet Jewkes, and Ava Ogden. TERRY would absolutely love:
... coworkers. Terry is a Spectral Specialist in the Spirit Division of the Dept for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Basically, he advocates for law-abiding spirits, particularly those 100+ years dead (he's in 3D: the Dead as a Doornail Division). Really, anyone in the Spirit Division would be awesome. ... potentially, a future girlfriend. Terry often has to be reminded to go out and have a social life, but if you've got a thing for cute kids, he has a nearly-five-year-old son (Jaidhara) with ex-girlfriend Parvati Patil. While he won't deliberately use his son to pick up chicks (lol, just using "pick up chicks" in conjunction with Terry makes me laugh), he can often be found at the park or the community center with Jay on his weeks (Terry and Parvati live down the street from each other, so they basically trade off weeks with him, Jay moving between the houses on Sundays). GEOFF would absolutely love:
JULES would absolutely love:
... her Prince Charming. Jules is a hopeless romantic who is holding out for one, so she would absolutely love it if somebody wanted to come in and sweep her off her feet. (I, of course, wouldn't mind a few toads for her to kiss along the way ...) ... singing lesson clients. She's an actress, but when she's not actively working, she teaches singing lessons (mostly to children) on the side. So any characters who either pay her to help them learn to sing, or pay her to help their children learn to sing, are more than welcome. AVA would absolutely love:
... friends! Girlfriends (she's so not girly, but could use girlfriends anyway), drinking buddies, "bros" (she's fairly convinced she's one of the guys), etc. Particularly Hufflepuffs from the class of 95 to join her, Emiliana Sosa, and Elijah Vance. ... exes, future exes, etc. Ava's not one for commitment, she's far more into the casual thing, and she high-tails it out of there at the first hint of things verging into Serious. So people she's fled from, or will flee from in the future. Or, heck, maybe even somebody who doesn't want to let her run away at the Point Of Serious? And, of course, anyone from here would not go unloved! |
