30 Days of RP (v. 2): Days 7-9: PBs
Since I was a little late on the previous one, and I got this one done pretty quickly, so.
![]() Top Row l-r: Mary Macdonald, Septima Vector, Juliet Jewkes Bottom Row l-r: William Bell, Theodore Orsini, Geoffrey Hooper OKAY SO. Let's go this one at a time. And I'm only doing my current characters, because I would have way too much fun with this and include way too many pictures if I did past characters, as well. Which just means that I might do a separate picspam of "OOC Pictures Of My Characters, Past And Present." Anyway. Mary Macdonald (Anna Kendrick): Um. Boobs! I mean, they're just HANGING OUT there. And that is so very, very not Mary, who is supremely reserved and prudish right now, what with the ~incident~ with Mulciber. No boobs being shoved into your face, not now. Septima Vector (Gemma Arterton): Okay, honestly? If she had access to this outfit, she'd wear it. ngl, she would. So the OOC-ness is mostly the fact that her hair is long (IC-ly, it's about chin-length) and the fact that she probably doesn't have access to an outfit like this. Yet. Juliet Jewkes (Mia Wasikowska): Firstly, her hair is short and blonde, and Juliet's hair is long and brown. And second, wtf is that outfit? I mean, seriously. Jules, did you get dressed in the dark? And out of somebody else's closet? How does that outfit even make sense? William Bell (Scott Mechlowicz): There's really no such thing as an OOC pic for Will Bell, but even though we call him the Hufflepope OOCly because I have icons of him in this get-up from that movie (Eurotrip), he probably wouldn't have access to this costume. Theodore Orsini (Dwane "the Rock" Johnson): Okay, I had so many I could use here, negl. Mostly from wrestling and also from The Scorpion King. But the one that took the cake is Dr Orsini as a really freaky and poorly-CGI-ed half-scorpion. DON'T PISS OFF THE DOC. Geoffrey Hooper (Michael Angarano): OMG THE HAIR. AHAHAHAHAHAHA, THE HAIR. ... that is all. |
Again, just doing my current characters here. xD |
It really depends. If I'm playing a canon-ish character, or at least someone with a fairly set personality and/or physical description, the character comes first, and then I'm trying to find a PB who fits them, not just in looks but in the personality of the icons (a :D character wouldn't have icons that are all :| or :/ or :( for example, or vice versa). But what happens most of the time is this: - I'll pick a name from a character list, or come up with a basic skeleton of a character idea, then I'll start searching for a PB. - I will find a PB I like and that's when the character's personality starts coming out, when I have the PB to look at and I can see their icons and what they look like. Or, conversely, sometimes I find a PB I want to use and craft a character around them (Taylor Swift, Taylor Spreitler, Dianna Agron, to name three of a bunch). For example, one of my queued characters at DMR is Hector Greengrass, he who shall be father of Daphs and Astoria. I had the vague notion of picking up (gasp!) a Slytherin male, but I definitely didn't want to pick up one of those crazy future-DEs. So, as I usually do when I start searching for a PB, I start skimming through the visual directories of my icon journal affiliates. Over at For Geoffrey, the part about the pink hat his mum knitted him came entirely from the fact that ... the icons I'm using are all from the movie Snow Angels, and he's wearing a pink knit hat in a lot of them. And I thought it'd be a cute bit of character history. For Teddy, I just had the idea that "hey, Hogwarts needs a counselor, I should pick one up" and had no idea about anything about him. I went searching for PBs and, on a whim, added Dwayne Johnson to the list of PBs I was linking Stevie for opinions. And that's who she chose. So I was sitting there, looking at his icons, going "... okay. Let's figure out who you are, and why somebody who so doesn't look 'shrink' is a psychiatrist." So I decided that even though he's all "BIG HUGE MUSCLES," he's actually a teddy bear on the inside, a big marshmallow. Movies like The Game Plan help with that. And to give him ~tragic history~, I used the little girl from said movie as his daughter and said that his wife died when the daughter was a baby. So he has to stay in shape to scare away Mia's closet monsters. :D |
