30 Days of RP (v. 2): Days 4-6: Backstage Info
![]() Alice Jacobs (historie) This might be a little surprising, considering I've played her five times, but I almost didn't pick up Alice Jacobs, she who would marry Frank Longbottom, be awesome, give birth to future-BAMF Neville Longbottom, and then be tortured into insanity by the Lestranges. I already had six characters at historie, and I think Dayna wanted to up the character limit so that she could pick up another character (that was pretty much the entire reason why the character limit kept rising randomly and ended up so high: one of us wanted to pick up someone new xD). In fact, if we hadn't kept raising the character limit, there's a lot of characters at that game that I wouldn't have picked up, simply because I didn't have the spots and probably wouldn't have gotten the muse for them. But anyway, I digress. When we first upped the character limit to 7, I think I wasn't planning on picking up another character, because I was literally just starting my final semester of undergrad work, and I didn't want to completely overwhelm myself, since I was already co-modding and had six characters already. Even when I started eyeing Alice [Longbottom] as a possibility, I wasn't sure if I wanted to pick her up. I mean, yeah, a great many of my characters in that game were brought in for shipping purposes with Dayna, but those were planned out. As we didn't have a Frank, there was this GREAT UNKNOWN for the Longbottoms: we know that they get married and have a kid, so there has to be something there, yeah? What if I played Alice and her personality and Frank's personality just didn't mesh at all? (I actually had similar worries about picking up Margaret Kenmore, who was slated in m75 to be Zacharias Smith's mother.) With such a major canon couple, I didn't want to ... screw things up, I guess. I don't remember why, but I finally did decide to pick her up (obviously). But I almost didn't. And she's become one of my favorite MWPP-era characters to play and one of the first ones I look to see if she's available, in MWPP-era games (along with Marlene McKinnon). |
![]() Misty Hooper (amortentia) I played her for such a brief time, and there was this great ship developing with her and Cam Finnigan. But then the game kind of fractured when we had to move from GJ, and I don't think Stevie/Cam came with the game over to IJ, and when I changed Misty's PB, I just started losing interest in the game. But I really really miss original!Misty and her butting-of-the-heads with Cam. Even without the potential for romance, I just miss her exchanging barbs with him, and I wantses it. |
![]() Samantha Campbell (bon chance/homeless) While I have a couple of characters "in the queue," so to speak (two more for DMR, including my First Ever Slytherin Male! And also characters for a game I'm thinking of opening in January to run through the very beginning of June), and I'm definitely looking forward to playing and developing them (I haven't even really gotten much into the apps of the two for DMR), I'm actually going to talk about a character who I apped over a year and a half ago for a game that closed before it even opened, which meant that I put a lot of pre-game (application) development into and was really looking forward to playing, but never had a chance to. Bon Chance was a game set in a high school in Louisiana where the students were all premades based on Tarot cards. Samantha was "Justice," and she was pretty much your classic example of High School Overachiever Who Is In For The Shock Of Her Life When She Actually Gets To College. I put her in every honors course I could fit into her schedule, she'd never gotten less than an A- on anything in her first two years of high school because she studied her arse off, she was president of Mock Trial (as a junior) and also on the Debate Team. She also has a part-time job as a waitress, and in her "free time," she offered her "legal services" to her schoolmates. And she volunteers at her church. Her Big Goal right now is to get into Yale, and then eventually go into environmental law. With all that, I thought it would be really interesting to actually play her out. See what her breaking point is, if she can handle all of that without just breaking down into an overworked, stressed-out wreck. I'd really like to be able to see if I can resurrect her for another game somewhere, where I can actually explore out all that. |
