30 Days of RP: Days 29 & 30
Since I had them written up, I figured I might as well post them and finish the meme up. :) I think I'll probably wait a few days before diving into the other one.
Okay, RP in general ... I don't really remember how it started. My friend Erica and I would chat on AOL after school, and we started doing these little stories where we each played a few different characters (the best part: how we differentiated between each character was the font weight: normal, italic, bold, underline, italic+bold, italic+underline, bold+underline, italic+bold+underline). We did that for a while, and I used to have the logs on my computer, but I think they got lost in the midst of shuffling between computers several times between then and now. This was all in, like, the beginning of 8th grade, I think. Or maybe it was later in 8th grade, we might have started doing it when I was recovering from being sick and didn't have the energy to do much besides sit at the computer. At the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I ended up joining the Order of the Crimson Star on AOL. I think I just randomly ended up in one of the recruiting chats for the Order and, hey, the recruiting worked. I think I made up a character on the spot upon entering the chat, and just went with her as I joined. After several years of the guild-oriented RP on AOL (mostly the OCS, but a couple others as well), and then a few large-scale PSLs and some smaller ones too (and after having cancelled my AOL account & in the process somehow lost all my Personal Filing Cabinet files with all my old RP stuff in it), I more or less took a break from RP as I adjusted to college. But then in 2005, a friend from the RP days got me back into RP and dragged me to the game she was in, dispertio on GJ. That first year and a half (the end of 2005 through 2006) was my "adjustment period" not just back into RPing, but into RPing in this very different format. I got used to using celebs to portray my characters, to using icons, to journals (threads and AIM logs were already familiar because that's how we RPed on AOL, we just didn't post the AIM logs anywhere). And I guess the rest is history? |
Okay, I just want to preface this by saying that this is just my own personal feelings. If you're a hardcore fan of this ship, that's your thing. We all have our own ships, and we don't have to ship the same people together. Will I judge you for liking this ship? No. But I'm just not a fan of Sirius/Remus. I'm sorry, I just can't get into it. Maybe it's because a no-longer-friend was so obsessed with it that she was always seeming to be practically cramming it down my throat. Maybe it's the really bad fics I've read, or the really poor portrayals I've seen in games that I've considered joining. Maybe it's just personal taste. I won't deny that there are people who write/play it well, but I just, in general, am not a fan of the Sirius/Remus ship. |
