A preface: listed here are the eight characters that I have played more than once, and these are characters who had the same name (with one exception; even then, their "canon" name is the same). In some cases (Eden, Marlene, Alice, Davy, Sally-Anne), their history and personality were more or less the same throughout each incarnation. The others (Proudfoot, James, Miriam) might have had some of the same characteristics, but they were (more or less) vastly different characters, despite having the same name. Not included are those characters who were essentially based upon another character, because then the post would be way too huge (for example, Katy, Coley, and Mary were all based upon Cassidy; Persephone was based upon Stasya, but made considerably more insane; I've had various characters based upon Marly, or upon Alice); plus, a lot of my characters have shared traits (especially HP-verse characters who are in the same house), so it would really be more of a web than anything else. Anyway. Onwards! These characters are arranged in the order that the first incarnation was picked up. ![]() James Cummings aol, atomic rising, project psi James was actually played three times, but there's only two pictures because the first time, she was played on AOL sans-PB. Yes, James was a girl. The story is that her parents were ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that they were going to have a son, so they only decided on a name for a baby boy. Daughter is born, and instead of just coming up with a new name, they gave her the boy's name. The one thing that all three Jameses have had in common is pyrokinesis. Other than that, I've slowly slightly-tamed her since her AOL days. In her AOL days, she was schizophrenic, which caused all sorts of fun with her ability to create & control fire. But, unfortunately, it was hard to play with other peole like that. In atomic rising, she had two powers: pyrokinesis with a side of telepathy. Problem was, she didn't realize that the voices she was hearing in her head were the thoughts of other people. Her parents sent her to a shrink, and when she found something out about the shrink, he diagnosed her a schizophrenic and sent her to the insane asylum. Sadly, the game died before I could really delve into her recovering from having been "insane" and discovering how to use and control her powers. And finally, project psi James was just pyrokinesis, no telepathy or schizophrenia. I wanted to try to have her be happy for once. And I'd love to play her again somewhere, maybe throw telepathy back into the mix, or make her a villain or something. ![]() Eden Richardson dispertio, historie, alt78 Eden was the first character that I played in the HP ‘verse. She was an original character, brought in as a cousin of a friend's pre-existing original character. I then brought her back twice more in two ... semi-related games. Dispertio was the game I first played her in, and then when Dayna ( ![]() Marlene McKinnon historie, alt78, mad world, find the horcruxes Oh my goodness, Marlene. I don't remember what led me to decide to pick her up in historie, but I am so glad I did. She is definitely one of my favorite characters. I definitely had to bring her to alt78 after historie, and I couldn't believe my luck when I managed to snag her for mad world. And, of course, since it was my game and I therefore got first dibs on charcters, I had to bring Marly to horcrux (and that was partly because Cat and I wanted to continue the epic friendship of Marly and Ro). Random trivia: her dad has always been an Auror, which has always then played into her wanting to be an Auror; she was an only child in historie and alt78, she only had sisters in MW because, well, there were two other McKinnons on the cast list (and it just didn't occur to me to make them cousins); I liked her Protective Older Sister thing from MW, so I gave her two little sisters in FtH, as well. ![]() Alice (Longbottom) historie, alt78, operation redo, (nevermind the) bollocks, find the horcruxes I know exactly why I picked Alice up in historie: I loved the little bit of her we got in OotP. Honestly, the bit of canon we do have of her has always bugged me: in GoF, Crouch always refers to Frank as "the Auror Frank Longbottom" but Alice is just "his wife" ... I always figured that if Alice was an Auror too, Crouch would be making sure to mention that, because I would think that torturing an Auror would be worse than torturing a civvie. I sort of write off Augusta's comment in OotP as a.) elevating her daughter-in-law in front of these kids, b.) JKR messing up and forgetting what she'd written before / changing her mind. I always played her (in school) as a girl who is torn between the idea of being an Auror and being a Healer. In alt78, she went into Auror training, but I decided in FtH to make her a Healer. She's always had a much-younger brother(s), though the number changes between just one and twins, and the exact age difference fluctuates, depending on the game. ![]() Davy Gudgeon historie, alt78 Ahhhhh, Davy was nuts. I loved him so much. After historie, I was hoping that he'd be fine with just his girlfriend in alt78, but he just ... he isn't the same without his brother Devon and his nametwin Dai. I just can't imagine playing him again at all, because he would be vastly different without Devon, Dai, and Ji-Eun, and considering I'm no longer on speaking terms with the Ji-Eun player ... yeah. ![]() (Auror) Proudfoot historie, euphoria lane Okay. In historie, Auror Proudfoot was Brianna, who completely and totally idolised Moody. In EL, Auror Proudfoot was retired after being injured in the war; his sister, Brianna (i c what u did thar!), had died in the war (tortured by DEs), which caused him to snap and go crazy, which led to his injury and ultimate retirement. (Auror Brianna'd had a sister, as well: Scarlett). Maybe one day, I'll pick Brianna back up, or play Thomas pre-injury. ![]() Miriam Strout memories1975, (never mind the) bollocks I feel like I did things wrong with m75 Miriam. She came into my head and struck me as a long-term-relationship girl, and none of the existing seventh-years were available for that, and I didn't want to claim an open seventh-year as her long-term boyfriend, and I was still way too new and shy at m75 to approach anyone to see if they wanted to app a boyfriend for her. So I said that she had been dating her muggle boyfriend for several years. Which freed me from worrying about shipping her (I had a lot of characters in ships at historie, which I'd just left; I'd wanted to step away from that for a while), but at the same time, I felt it limited her interactions, somewhat. When I picked her up at bollocks, I knew instantly that she would have to be drastically different. For one thing, she was a Ravenclaw instead of a Hufflepuff. So I made her more of a smartass to m75!Miriam's sweet and motherly personality. Bollocks!Miriam was more interested in knowledge for the sake of it, and didn't really have much idea of what she wanted to do with her life after school (unlike m75!Miriam, who'd known her whole life that she wanted to be a doctor/healer). And I think I loved bollocks!Miriam more (though I did love them both), just because she was so like me in the "let's blow stuff up and call it science!" sense of things. ![]() Sally-Anne Perks euphoria lane, the gossip witch, the daily prophet, of1998 And Sally. I seriously didn't know what was going to happen after I picked her up at EL and shipped her with Liz's Nate Cadwallader. I've already talked earlier in this meme about how Sally changed even just in that game. After EL, Liz and I had wanted to play them elsewhere, which led to the gossip witch and the daily prophet, at various points in the same basic timeline as we'd created in EL (I think gossip witch picked up right after she came back from having run off; daily prophet was after they were married). And the in the PSL of1998, we got to play them married with a kid, which really made me happy (they had a son in daily prophet, too, but I don't think Liz even actually got Nate's app in before the game bottomed-up), even though we hardly did much with them. Will I play her again? I don't think I could, without Liz's Nate. |
