Stealing an idea from Alya, I took my characters' latest journal entries and ran them through the gender genie to see what gender it predicted each character was.

Marlene (heart_of_a_lion): female
Alice (dear_alice): male (uh ...)
Persephone (porcelainic): sociopath female
Doyle (dishonestly): male
Guy (reporter_guy): male
AJ (agony_aunt): female
Lexi (sculpts): female
Tiberius (old_firewhisky): male


So, other than my apparently pregnant male, all of my characters are writing as their own gender. Which is good. Though this "masculine keywords" and "feminine keywords" thing confuses the hell out of me because ... why the hell are "the" and "a" indicative of a guy's writing?

How did you choose your LiveJournal username character journal names? Is there an interesting story behind it?


heart_of_a_lion (Marlene McKinnon): well, ~lionhearted was already taken, and I'd used my favorite ~maybe_a_lion for MW, so I tweaked lionhearted a bit into, well, heart of a lion. Since she's a Gryffindor. Even though she hasn't particularly been acting it lately.

dear_alice (Alice Longbottom): okay, so. My usual Alice username is ~alice_dear, which is what I used (& reused) on GJ. But I used it on IJ for Bollocks! and didn't really feel like reusing it because ... idk, I like being able to link to my old characters' journals and not be all "lol, reused!" So while I debated just omitting the underscore, I opted instead to flip the word order for her journal for FTH.

porcelainic (Persephone Jugson): I'd used this on GJ for one of my Slytherin characters I'd had in historie, and since I sort of merged the two girls into one for Seph, I decided to steal the username I'd used for the one. Meant to be sort of indicative of how she's all cold and smooth and hard and stuff, but "fragile"

dishonestly (Doyle Sullivan): before his attack knocked him out of the career path of petty thief & counterfeiter, Doyle was, well, a petty thief and counterfeiter. So you probably shouldn't trust him too much, because he'll probably steal your watch and then sell you a fake back.

reporter_guy (Guy Dobbs): I went with lame and play-on-name for his: his name is Guy, he's a reporter, and he's a reporter guy! ... yeah.

agony_aunt (AJ Carpenter): so, her job is that she is the Agony Aunt for the Daily Prophet.

sculpts (Lexi Ketteridge): Lexi is a sculptor. Therefore, she sculpts.

old_firewhisky (Tiberius Ogden): Ogden's Old Firewhisky. The best family product a guy could ever want to inherit.



And mine: zombiephile ... it could pretty much be summed up into "Nij"
